almost monday have always captured the exhilaration of being alive with an infectious indie-pop energy. But after an intense touring cycle behind their debut album “Dive”, the San Diego trio faced a period of personal tragedy and profound change. Vocalist Dawson Daugherty, guitarist Cole Clisby, and bassist Luke Fabry channelled those experiences into their second album, “Thank God It's Almost Monday”.
The 13-track record explores deeper emotional territory while preserving the carefree spirit that has defined the band from the beginning. Most of the album was produced with longtime collaborator Simon Oscroft, with Chase Lawrence joining on several tracks to help expand the band’s sonic palette. Lead single “leaving is easy” reflects the emotional heart of the album, balancing the challenges of life on the road with the beauty of pursuing a dream. Other tracks embrace the band’s signature optimism: “no more regrets” celebrates letting go and living in the moment, while “french kids” was inspired by an unforgettable audience during the band’s European tour. “skinny dip” looks back nostalgically on growing up in Southern California.
The album closes with “better late than never,” a shimmering synth-pop and alt-rock track about embracing your dreams and remembering that it’s never too late to pursue the life you truly want. Recorded in Los Angeles, Nashville and San Diego, the album is deeply rooted in the friendship between the three musicians, who have been making music together since high school.
