KAFVKA is a Berlin-based band that has been politically active for many years, advocating for social justice and taking a clear stand against the far right. Their most successful song, “Alle hassen Nazis” (“Everyone Hates Nazis”), is about to surpass 15 million streams on Spotify and has become a staple at left-wing demonstrations – speaking for itself.
Since their first EP in 2014, the band has grown far beyond what they ever deliberately pursued. Jonas, Philipp, Alessio, and Sascha have never pandered to the mainstream, yet they’ve made the leap from Berlin’s subcultural scenes to New Music Friday Germany, from small benefit shows to the “Rock am Ring” festival-lineup, and from hobbyists to full-time musicians. KAFVKA’s declared goal is to spread the idea of a better world through music and inspire people to think and act. Today, they are a firmly established name in the German-speaking music scene, with their own label and a loyal fanbase that embraces even their boldest genre shifts. With each album, the band continues to outgrow the niche they created – organically, but unmistakably – reaching an ever broader audience.
Given their current reach, KAFVKA could easily tone things down lyrically – but they’re too angry, too driven, and too eager to speak out. Their greatest achievement is that they never lose their accessibility: pairing clear, undogmatic messages with big emotions, maintaining a positive energy despite the frustration, and always finding a sense of reconciliation in the end.
