Montreal-based band Spite House was born out of intuition and personal loss. For vocalist Maxime Lajoie, the experience became the catalyst to finally pursue his long-held ambition of singing in a band and revive an old musical idea with his former school friend Marc Tremblay (drums).
The duo quickly developed a collaborative songwriting process, creating songs rooted in the influence of bands such as Samiam, Jawbreaker and Seaweed, while giving their sound a distinctly modern edge. With Nabil Ortega joining on bass and sharing the duo’s musical instincts, Spite House found its definitive lineup and a sound that sits somewhere between melodic punk, gritty alternative rock and raw emotional intensity.
