Musical chemistry is a rare thing, but from their very first collaborations, Andy Platts and Shawn Lee – the creative force behind Young Gun Silver Fox – shared an undeniable connection. Over more than a decade, the duo has built a devoted international following, earning admiration from artists including Hans Zimmer, Jeff Lynne, and The Black Pumas.
Both musicians brought impressive credentials to the project. Shawn Lee is a prolific producer, multi-instrumentalist, and solo artist, while Andy Platts is the songwriter and frontman of acclaimed UK soul outfit Mamas Gun. United by a love of sophisticated ’70s and early ’80s pop-soul, they formed Young Gun Silver Fox and released their debut album “West End Coast” in 2015. The record arrived just as interest in the smooth sounds later dubbed “Yacht Rock” was resurging and quickly found an enthusiastic audience.
Subsequent albums “AM Waves” (2018), “Canyons” (2020), and “Ticket To Shangri-La” (2022) expanded their reputation through impeccable songwriting, lush arrangements, and extensive international touring. Along the way, they earned endorsements from musical heroes and built a loyal global fanbase.
Their fifth album, “Pleasure” (2025), marked a new chapter. For the first time, much of the record was written and recorded together in person at Andy’s Norfolk studio, resulting in a more immediate and collaborative creative process. Featuring ten tracks that blend groove, melody, and the duo’s trademark musicianship, “Pleasure” demonstrates a band continuing to evolve while staying true to the sound that has made Young Gun Silver Fox one of the most respected acts in contemporary soul and pop.
